pROGRAM EXPECTATIONS

Why you should Participate

Christ is to live in his human agents, and work through their faculties, and act through their capabilities.—Thoughts From the Mount of Blessing, 128.15.

When human agents choose the will of God, and are conformed to the character of Christ, Jesus acts through their organs and faculties.—Special Testimonies, Series A 3:[48,] 49.

The Spirit of Christ is to take possession of the organs of speech, of the mental powers, of the physical and moral powers.—Special Testimonies, Series A 6:53.

Our very bodies are not our own, to treat as we please, to cripple by habits that lead to decay, making it impossible to render to God perfect service. Our lives and all our faculties belong to him. He is caring for us every moment; he keeps the living machinery in action; if we were left to run it for one moment, we should die. We are absolutely dependent upon God.—Unpublished Testimonies, October 12, 1896.

We have special duties resting upon us. We should be acquainted with our physical structure and the laws controlling natural life. ...The study to which to give thought is that which concerns natural life, a knowledge of oneself.... It is the house in which we live that we need to preserve, that we may do honor to God who has redeemed us. We need to know how to preserve the living machinery, that our soul, body, and spirit may be consecrated to his service. ...This living machinery should be understood. Every part of its wonderful mechanism should be carefully studied. —Unpublished Testimonies, May 19, 1897.(Healthful living)

Introduction

13.4.2024 Workshop

Nutrition

Science, History, and the Story of Daniel show us that a plant-based diet is more beneficial to a longer, healthier life than an animal-based diet. Even celebrities, athletes and those who can afford the greatest physicians in the world are choosing a plant-based diet.

20.4.2024 Workshop

Exercise

1 out of 3 Americans NEVER exercise. The more education and wealth someone has the more they exercise. 2 out of 3 of us do not exercise more than 2-3 times/week. 80% of obese kids will be obese adults.

27.4.2023 Workshop

Sunlight & Sleep

Sunlight increases the use of oxygen in the tissues and thus stimulates the immune system and the production of antibodies. Cancer cannot live in a highly oxygenated environment. When sunlight strikes the skin, it initiates a delicate multi-phased process.

Studies show that only 25% of Americans on average sleep consistently well each night. This means that 3 out of 4 of us in this room feel that sleep is an area we need improvement. The average amount of time devoted to sleep has decreased by 20% in the last 100 years.

4.5.2024 Workshop

Water & Fresh Air

Blood is made up of 83% water. A 5% drop and you will lose your sight. 10% you will lose your hearing... The body needs water the most in the cells that make up the blood supply to maintain life. When the blood is short on water, it will thicken and thus decrease circulation and raise blood pressure.

The lungs take in nearly 400 million liters of air in a lifetime. 90% of our lives today are spent indoors! Each day we breathe about 20,000 times. The body needs to breathe to provide fuel to the cells so that they can burn the fuel i.e., glucose.

11.5.2024 Workshop

Stress (mental health/ Trust in God)

Some studies show that 50% of our prescription medications in the USA are stress related i.e. depression/anxiety/sleep problems, etc. 90% of all diseases are thought to be stress-related!

18.5.2024 Workshop

Educate yourself

1 out of 4 Americans did not read one book last year! The average person reads 1-4 books per year. Technology with audio/visual is not a replacement for reading. Watching or listening do not stimulate the same amount of senses and nerves that reading does.

25.5.2024 Workshop

Temperance & Service

The Frontal Lobe contains most of the dopamine sensitive neurons. The dopamine system is responsible for staying focused, long term memory, rational thinking, logical thinking, where your morality, planning and drive reside and come from, the place where you choose to decide what and what not to do.

The pleasure of doing good to others imparts a glow to the feelings which flashes through the nerves, quickens the circulation of the blood, and induces mental and physical health.
